University of Nottingham Law Student Joins Bıçak
Bıçak Law Firm is pleased to welcome Almıla Dora Koyuncu, a law student at the University of Nottingham School of Law (United Kingdom), to its International Legal Internship Program in Türkiye. Almıla joins the Firm for her summer internship after completing her first year of legal studies at one of the United Kingdom’s leading law schools. During her studies, she has already distinguished herself academically and through her active involvement in student leadership and advocacy.
At the University of Nottingham, Almıla serves as the Vice President of the University’s Bar Society, where she contributes to organising professional events, building relationships with members of the legal profession, and promoting legal careers among fellow students. She has also participated successfully in moot court competitions, earning Third Place in the University’s Civil Advocacy Competition, and regularly develops her oral advocacy and legal argumentation skills through mooting and public speaking activities.
Her international outlook extends beyond legal education. Having completed her secondary education at Ankara Private Tevfik Fikret Schools, she studied in a multilingual environment and is fluent in Turkish and English, with working proficiency in French. Her academic achievements have been recognised through numerous awards, including the University’s Excellence Award upon admission to Nottingham and several academic distinction awards during her secondary education.
Almıla has demonstrated a strong interest in international and comparative law from an early stage of her legal education. In her application, she explained that she was particularly attracted to Bıçak Law Firm because of its cross-border practice and its work in international law and human rights. She also referred to Prof. Dr. Vahit Bıçak‘s publication on the case law of the European Court of Human Rights concerning terrorism, highlighting the balance between national security and fundamental rights as an area she hopes to explore throughout her legal career.
During her internship, Almıla will work alongside the Firm’s lawyers on a variety of legal research and drafting projects involving comparative law, international legal practice, constitutional and human rights law, and other cross-border legal issues. She will also contribute to the Firm’s English-language legal publications and gain practical experience in legal research, legal writing, and international legal analysis.
The International Legal Internship Program at Bıçak Law Firm provides law students from Türkiye and abroad with the opportunity to work on real legal research projects under the supervision of experienced practitioners while developing practical skills in an international legal environment.
We are delighted to welcome Almıla to our team and wish her a productive, rewarding, and enjoyable internship experience in Ankara.
